Plastikophobia: Μια εγκατάσταση από 18.000 πλαστικά ποτήρια

Στη Σιγκαπούρη, ο Βον Γουόνγκ, τα Imaginary Studios και μια στρατιά εθελοντών ακούραστα συνέλλεξαν και καθάρισαν 18.000 χρησιμοποιημένα πλαστικά ποτήρια για να δημιουργήσουν ένα σπήλαιο, το οποίο ονόμασαν «Plastikophobia».

Made from 18,000 cups collected over 1.5 days, #PLASTIKOPHOBIA is an installation that invites us to rethink our consumption of single-use plastics. The installation is being exhibited at the Sustainable Singapore Gallery at the Marina Barrage till 18 April. Το «Πλαστικοφοβία», για τους δημιουργούς, δεν σημαίνει «φόβος του πλαστικού». Αναφέρεται στον φόβο για το τι θα συμβεί στον κόσμο μας αν δεν πάψουμε να παίρνουμε απρόσεκτες αποφάσεις: το να ρουφήξουμε για λίγα δευτερόλεπτα από ένα πλαστικό ποτήρι σημαίνει, ενδεχομένως, χρόνια και χρόνια που αυτό το ποτήρι θα επιπλέει στα νερά των ωκεανών.

2/3: My favourite shots (so far) of #Plastikophobia: So this photo by @vonwong had model/lighting expert Max literally bending over backwards, (turn your phone this way ⬅️ to see) then the final photo was turned 180 degrees (turn your phone this way ➡️ to see). But I really like the angle of the photo this way (the way you're viewing right now). The yellow flippers really pop and the ceiling has this very cool ridged effect. Οι δημιουργοί, αφού συνεργάστηκαν με την Εθνική Υπηρεσία Περιβάλλοντος της Σιγκαπούρης για τη συλλογή του υλικού, θέλησαν η εγκατάσταση να είναι φωτογραφίσιμo σκηνικό ή, για την ακρίβεια, instagrammable. Ώστε, ο κάθε περιηγητής σε αυτό το μέσο κοινωνικής δικτύωσης να πέσει θύμα αυτού του «όπλου μαζικής δημιουργίας».

«Όπλο μαζικής δημιουργίας» είναι η ατάκα των Imaginator Studios, του κατασκευαστικού στούντιο το οποίο ανέλαβε την κατασκευή αυτής της «παγίδας» στο Instagram.

Made from thousands of used plastic cups collected from local food stalls in Singapore, the exhibition depicts the severe problem of human plastic pollution in the oceans and aims to evoke the feeling of 'Plastikophobia'.
